Segmenter Modeler – Ideal for creating 3D models

Segmenter Modeler combines all the functions of the products “Dornheim DICOM Viewer” and “Segmenter Viewer”, and offers a variety of tools for the creation and processing of 3D models from medical data sets. Choose from a variety of tools to generate 3D models on the basis of your medical image data, e.g. MRI, CT or ultrasound images. You decide in which color and transparency the 3D models are represented.


With the Segmenter Modeler you can:

  • use a variety of intuitive tools. They include thresholding, cutting, ROI-based segmentation, logical operations, layer interpolation and freehand selection. That means for you: for different requirements, suitable, in many cases even automated, solutions are ready for you.
  • add extensive text descriptions to segmented structures. How about e.g. creating an anatomical teaching record, in which the contents are reproduced from the medical atlas? It is even possible to insert images into the description text, to mention related structures, which can be zoomed in automatically, or to link to correlated Internet pages.

  • open 3D models that have already been created with the Segmenter Modeler or another software, that means import of 3D data is possible. The modeler automatically recognizes the common file formats, e.g. IV, OBJ, PLY, STL, VTP for surface models and RAW, MetalO, VTI for volume data.
  • export volume models, surface models, animations and images as single formats, so you can open them with a program of your choice.
  • create digital models in order to use 3D printing techniques or additive manufacturing processes. You can produce genuine specimens that you can use as training device for surgery or as demonstration material.
